Code of Conduct

Cardiff VC is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of all its members. The Club believes that it is important that all members, coaches, officials, administrators and parents associated with the club should always show respect and understanding for the safety and welfare of others. Members are encouraged to share any concerns or complaints that they may have about any aspect of the club with the Club Chairperson, Head Coach or Child Protection
Officer.
At all times, members should behave as ambassadors of club; they should conduct themselves in a positive manner when representing the club in any capacity and should not do anything that would bring the club into disrepute.
As a member of Cardiff VC, you are expected to abide by the following:

Behaviour
  • Members must respect the rights, dignity and worth of others regardless of gender, ability, cultural background, religion or belief.
  • Senior members of the Club should act responsibly and appropriately, particularly in the presence of junior members, acting as role models for junior members.
  • All members have a shared responsibility for ensuring the club provides a safe, positive and welcoming environment for anyone who is in contact with the Club and its members and their behaviour, both in person and online, should always reflect this.
  • The relationship between a coach and player will be based on openness, honesty, mutual trust and respect.
  • Coaches must be seen as role models of proper and acceptable behaviour and conduct at all times.
  • Members must not smoke or consume alcohol or drugs (or be under the influence of alcohol or drugs) while taking part in club training or competitions.
  • Any concerns in relation to conduct should be reported to Club Chairperson, Head Coach or Child Protection Officer.
Training and Playing
  • Members must play within the rules of the game. Additionally, they should show respect to their team mates, opponents, match officials and their decisions.
  • Members should keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or inform their coach or team captain if they are going to be absent or late.
  • Members must wear suitable kit for training and match sessions, as agreed with their coach.
  • Members can expect their coach to respect and champion the rights of every individual to participate in playing volleyball.
  • Members should assist in the smooth running of training sessions and fixtures in any appropriate way (eg setting up and putting away equipment, contributing to match day hospitality etc.)
  • Members must pay membership fees, subscriptions or one off charges for events promptly. In the event of financial difficulty, members should speak to their coach or a committee member to discuss any difficulties in making payments.
